How will Vonk help you?
Matchmaking
Your impact
Vonk does not really have profiles in the traditional sense. You only provide some basic information such as a single picture, your gender, your birthday (age), and the languages you speak. You can also provide your nationality. No need to come up with a bio, prompts, or any more pictures.
What matters more is your impact. Your impact grows organically as you do more things through Vonk. It reflects your interests in an artistic way and allows you to express yourself by simply being yourself! This is also a much more exciting way for others to see what you are all about. Note that only proposed matches get to see this.
Finding matches
Vonk uses your agenda to find matches for you. All you need to do is decide on an activity you want to do or an event you want to attend or are attending.
Let's say you want to go running tonight for around 1 hour at a park nearby. You are free the entire evening, so you add a block from 7 PM to 10 PM in your agenda. You configure the duration to be 1 hour and set the location to the park nearby. As soon as your activity is created, Vonk starts searching for people that also have a running activity in their agenda that matches your criteria (timing, duration, location). The less specific your criteria, the higher your chances of finding a match!
Filters
Of course, you might not want to go running with just about anyone. Filters allow you to narrow down your options based on gender, language, nationality, and age.
For each activity, where relevant, there will also be filters to specify the level you're looking for. If you're only starting to run, you might not want to get matched with someone that regularly run marathons or vice versa!
You've got a match, now what?
Once you have a match, you have to confirm it within a certain time frame. If you did not confirm within the time frame, Vonk will start searching again.
Further configuration
Vonk is not just for one on one meetings. You can decide whether you like to meet one on one, whether you prefer the vibe of a small group or whether you only feel comfortable meeting friends of friends. Vonk has your back and allows you to configure all of this on a per-activity basis. But wait, that sounds like a lot of work! That is where templates come in.
Templates
With the help of templates you can save all your configuration efforts and quickly create a new activity without having to reconfigure the same settings all the time.
Your circles
Circles are your way to hang out with specific people. You can define circles using your contacts or people you've already met through Vonk. Activities are generally public, but you have the option to only publish them to a specific circle.
Scheduling
Publishing an activity without a specific date to a circle allows you to easily schedule something with your friends. If they are interested, Vonk will figure out a date that works for all of you and suggest it. If for any reason, someone declines on the proposed date, a new one will be searched for until all of you agree!
Personalized suggestions
Vonk can help you with discovering new things to try or with figuring out when it's a great time to do one of your hobbies. These suggestions will be tailored towards your interests.
Safety and trust
Feedback is an important element of Vonk. After you meet someone, you will be asked to confirm whether the people you met were nice and appropriate. After a few meetings, you can earn a badge that will be displayed on your profile informing everyone you are a verified user. Next, you will also be able to give feedback on how good you thought the matches were. This feedback will then be used to improve the quality of your matches.
To reduce your risk even further, you can decide to only meet with verified users. Other recommendations include meeting friends of friends, only meeting others in small groups, and limiting yourself to public spaces and reasonsable hours during the day or evening.
